new online games

School can be draining and not everyone has an outlet. Some people have sports; some have hobbies, while some play games. MMORPG stands for Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. It is a platform where a large number of players can interact with one another in a virtual world. Players usually assume the role of a fictional character, often an avatar of themselves, and take control of the character’s actions.

If you’re looking for an outlet or just plain curious, read on. In this issue we check out some of the MMORPG’s that are available in the Philippine market. First off is Silkroad. It is published by Level Up Games (LUG) and is based on the historical Silk road, a network of trade routes in Asia. One of the game’s most noted features is allowing a player to choose three different job roles after reaching level 20. Unlike in most games, jobs here aren’t permanent. You can switch from one job to another, only sacrificing mastery points. Also from LUG is the locally released Perfect World. It is based on Chinese mythology and is set in the fictional world of Pangu. Players can also be intimate with other characters and get married, or train pets and use them as means of transportation. You can also fully customize your character’s clothes and your character’s appearance. This feature is unique to perfect world as it utilizes a slider to customize a character’s appearance from size of the eyes to torso size.

Lineage 2 is currently on open beta. The game is set in a medieval styled virtual world and players can choose to become humans, elves, dark elves, dwarves or orcs. Players can also acquire a pet that can hold items in their inventories, attack monsters, and heal their master.

Granado Espada has many features previously unseen in other games. One of these is the ability to control multiple characters at the same time. Its set in the Baroque period in Europe and players can either choose to be a fighter, wizard, musketeer, scout or elementalist. Despite its cutting edge graphics, it has been criticized for lacking options in the character creation and poor game play.

From ABS CBN Interactive is Tanta Online. It’s a Neo-Oriental fantasy game that is largely based on the concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism. Players can choose between 8 classes, namely Yaksa, Ghandarva, Naga, Kimnara, Deva, Garuda, Asura and Rakshasa. Upon reaching level 30, players can choose Brahma, Vishnu or Shiva as their god. Players of the same God can organize themselves and form a guild, or create a party to defend their castle in Kruma. Unique to Tantra is its official PVP map called Kruma. Here the players from all factions can battle it out for fame and glory. Another game from ABS CBN Interactive is Warrock. It is a first-person shooter game very similar to the popular Counter Strike. Upon entering the game, players can choose from five classes consisting of heavy trooper, assault, medic, engineer and sniper. It has different modes of play, each having different map sizes, number of respawn points, and ability to use several transportation like motorcycles, tanks, and jeeps.
