Being the Alpha Dog

I often take the responsibility of being the party leader whenever I go leveling in Tantra. For one, it's because I am irked by incompetence. I dislike party leaders who have no concern for their party mates. Being an efficient party leader is a big factor towards maximizing experience points gained in a party. Second, because I like being in control. I see myself as someone who handles responsibility well and I think this should be put to good use.

As normal players may already know, being the party leader is a tough job. It requires you to be awake most of the time, watching the party, while your party mates are away from their computers enjoying their day. You on the other hand, have trouble doing other things because you have to watch over the party.

As the party leader, you have to make sure everyone is inside the leveling room. If a player ventures outside of the room you have to kick him out of the party and record the time.

You also have to jot down everyone who made a reservation in the party.

If someone gets disconnected you have to take note of the time. If he wasn't able to log back in after 30 minutes the slot goes to the one next in line. Of course, this has been the start of many arguments, which is again a bad effect of being the party leader. Most players will argue, insult, call names, curse you for kicking them out of the party.

You also have to be a good decision maker. Points of conflict often arise and you have to be able to handle it well. Often, there are disputes about the reservation list. Having many people wanting to be in the party, you would often encounter people who would do anything just to get the coveted slot.

You also have to be alert. If a character, in any event, is not contributing to the party (i.e. dead, or in another room, or paleech), you have to kick them out immediately and invite someone temporarily. This ensures that the party is gaining maximum experience points.

Lastly, you have to be patient. There are players who would constantly bug you for a slot, and players who have the brain capacity of a 3-year old who seem to not understand basic language even if it is in their dialect.
